MARITIME AUGMENTED REALITY APP

The development of an augmented reality app meant to extend and enhance a museumgoer's experience. Built using Unity 5.6 and Vuforia.

This project started off as a class assignment where we were tasked with building a piece of this skipjack. I was the lead programmer for this project. I created an interactive main menu that had players shoot the word 'Play' or 'Quit' and created a way to spawn the skipjack.

Still early in development, I created a simple main menu that a user is greeted to upon opening the app. Influenced by SnapChat and Pokemon GO I created a background that uses the device's main or back camera.

To improve user interaction and make the app more enjoyable with a younger audience I created a gyroscope based camera which rotates according to the user's position.

GYROSCOPE CAMERA

Using a phone's gyroscope sensor I created an interactive way to view the 3D models of a boat.

TOUCH CONTROLS

Using the Lean Touch asset from the Unity Asset store I am able to use touch controls that can manipulate a 3D model.

GESTURE SUPPORT

Using Lean Touch, I created a gesture based navigation system.

AUGMENTED REALITY

The augmented reality portion of the app is utilized using Vuforia. Vuforia allows you to track a 3D object using either an image or an object. We chose to use an image based tracking method because in the future it allows us to print out small marker images that can be given out to museum visitors.
